Three Storeys

A house, three floors, one story

Three Storeys, an independent mobile game studio near the Welsh border, designs narrative puzzle games for Android set inside one house seen in cross-section, where every room holds part of a family story.

Players move between floors, open drawers and read letters, slowly piecing together who lived here and what happened.

The houses in our designs are ordinary ones, such as a terrace in a market town, a farmhouse, a flat above a shop. Their stories are about families, moves, inheritances and small secrets rather than crime or horror, and they are written to be read at a gentle pace. A floor plan is always visible so players can see which rooms they have explored, and every letter or object they have found is kept in a notebook for later. Text size and contrast can be adjusted, and the stories can be paused at any moment and picked up again on another day.

Top floor

Attics and bedrooms hold private things: diaries, old photographs, objects kept for reasons nobody explained.

Middle floor

Living rooms and studies show the public face of a household, and the small contradictions in it.

Ground floor

Kitchens, hallways and front doors are where visitors arrive and where the story usually turns.

Garden

Outside, a shed, a washing line or a buried tin can hold the final piece, and the season visible through the windows changes as the story moves through the years.
